Solving our environmental problems requires strong science but also an emphasis on putting science in the hands of the public and training the next generation of scientists. As director of the John Muir Institute of the Environment (JMIE), Ben has formed OneClimate, which aims to help UC Davis implement collaborative efforts to confront issues surrounding climate change. In addition to research, OneClimate has created a series of hands on climate change installations that expose the public to climate science. JMIE has also paired with Elsevier to provide researchers with visualization tools that display their professional network. Ben also runs an undergraduate club focused on calculating UC Davis' nitrogen footprint and heads the Aggie Mentor and EnvironMentor programs.
